Constable Kenny Koala attends day care, preschools and primary schools in Canberra to present a range of safety topics to children aged three to 12-years-old.
There is no cost for Constable Kenny to visit your school.
We recommend that you make all your bookings for the year at the one time. Most schools usually book a session per term. No more than 40-45 children are permitted in a session (maximum of two classes).
Commencing Term 1, 2020 the program will have some exciting enhancements:
Classroom teachers will have access to an Australian Curriculum table that highlights links relating to each of the following topics, some of which are also new for 2020:
- Stay OK online: K - Year 2 (via the ThinkUKnow program)
- Stay OK every day: K - Year 4 (decision making and consequences)
- Stay OK in the community: K - Year 6 (protective behaviours)
- Stay OK on the road: K - Year 6 (road safety)
- Stay OK for life: Years 5 - 6 (decision making and consequences)
Cyber safety presentations (via ThinkUKnow) for Years 3-6 are facilitated by ACT Policing’s Community Safety and Education Team. Requests for presentations can be made through thinkuknow.org.au.
Full Day Bookings
A full day is six to eight presentations for a range of classes within a school booked within a single day. Bookings will run in a row with the exception of breaks for recess and lunch.
Individual Sessions
Book up to five individual sessions for a school within a day or book one class multiple sessions across the year.
No more than 40-45 children are permitted in a session (maximum of two classes).
To ensure Constable Kenny can focus his time and attention on school lessons, he will no longer visit after-school care classes or attend school fetes.
However, he will still be available for major community events throughout the year. Requests for community events can be sent to act-community-requests@afp.gov.au.
